Remembering Those
Who Were Lost
The purpose of the donations are to obtain a new plaque for the memorial dedicated to crew, E-180 on the KC-135 Tanker from K I Sawyer which crashed upon takeoff from Dyess AFB in Texas killing all 10 crew members and 9 passengers.
The mishap occurred January 1st, 1989 as the aircraft was taking off in-route to Hawaii.
The memorial will also be moved to a new location in the Upper Peninsula Memorial Retreat Center adjacent to the aircraft displays.
